Who let that freaking cat in the gallery?

One of the 100s of installations we’ve done around the country. Love landing them, and love installing them. This one was pretty complex, and involved 300 pieces by the time we were done. Repurposed hickory beams, backlit with LEDs. Beautiful job as always, boys. Thanks to KU Med and all the great staff there.

We’ve been representing the sculptor Lyman Whitaker since 2008. Periodically I place  large groupings of his works in different locations around the country. It’s good biz, and anyway I love to travel. This install is at the Naples Art Center, and man do they love it! So do we.

Had to put beautiful Moses, our gallery dog, down last month. Tumor. Here we’re on the vet’s porch. He was one special pup–once we got him past his memories of abuse. Died with his head on my lap. We all miss and love you, Buddy. See you on the other side.

We installed this cool piece, by KCAI alum William Lobdell, to help bring the Royals luck. Apparently that worked–along with world-class play. Made of 1000 baseball-related objects, it’s in the main lobby just inside the doors. 6′ x 6′. Thanks to everyone at Royals for giving us such a great gig. Congratulations on a beautiful World Series Win!

After 10 years of mentoring kids at Sumner–a great college prep school in downtown KCK–they decided to name a gallery after me. So I said, Hot Damn! Thanks so much to everyone at Sumner. I adore you all. What do I do as a mentor? Reassure kids from the city that they’re just as bright as their white counterparts–and HELP THEM GET INTO COLLEGE. Thanks to all my clients for writing big checks.

One of my Denver clients recently commissioned this Flint Hills landscape by Phil Epp. We installed it last month in his downtown condo, overlooking City Park. What a great excuse for going to CO!

Barnett Helzberg is a legend in the world of philanthropy and business. He sold Helzberg Jewels to Warren Buffet 20 years ago, and with the money built a lavish K-12 school for kids from the inner city, helped build the Kauffman Performing Arts Center in KC, and has given away millions to various nonprofits that he and his wife Shirley believe in.
